Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working with NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. 1996, she became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was made as the head White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell participated on the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debate in 1988 with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable stories over the years, such as the tax reforms, budget reforms as well as The Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell traveled frequently with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
